Collaborative and multidisciplinary project, based on the serie I am my house.
This project was born from the idea of creating a collaborative, multidisciplinary piece based on the intervened photographs of Cristian Pineda’s series Yo soy mi casa (I am my house). The aim was to compose a piece where both visual and musical elements could be combined and presented together, creating a holistic audiovisual experience.
The result is a large scale work written for viola da gamba and electronics which is, so far, composed of five pieces, each based on a different image. In the future the project will be extended until the completion of 10 pieces based on the images of Yo soy mi casa.
Each of the five pieces are based on the artist’s images and were created through a collaborative process between three artists: composers Jimena Maldonado Álvarez and Juan Luis Montoro Santos and viola da gamba player Israel Castillo Hernández.
Intervened memory is the result of different processes of intervention, dialog, interpretation and improvisation; all based on Cristian Pineda’s work. The interaction between the composers, performer, images, and electronics is an essential part of the creation, performance and, eventually, of the audience’s perception of the piece.
The five pieces of Intervened memory are to be performed live with Cristian Pineda’s images displayed. It is essential for the project that the audience can see the images during the performance of the piece.
